Originally by: CCP Pann As I see it, the chief complaint is regarding the high cost of goods in the Nobel Market. Second, many people are unhappy about the CaptainĘs Quarters. Third, there are some performance issues with Incarna.
No, that isn't the problem at all. or rather, those are different problems. The REAL problem is that "MT for vanity stuff only, honest" as it has been stated several times is an outright lie, ofcourse MT on the whole is pandora's box so, at some level at least, we were expecting CCP to backpedal at some point and start selling items and advantages through MT. But the recently leaked PDF file shows us something we'd have never have believed; CCP as a company sold it's soul, it's cash cow and and it's trust.
In a player driven sandbox with the complexity that EVE has, you can NOT introduce advantages for cash (whatever form that cash may have) and you CERTAINLY can't introduce ships/mods/items for cash, as that completely circumvents the normal production cycle stuff in EVE has; from mining minerals, to producing good to hauling all these around, everyone is a part of the process and because of exactly that you have the player driven economy. Taking shortcuts there means that you disrupt the player driven part, which the base foundation of the whole game.
Anyone who even MENTIONS messing with the player driven economy thing, by default, has no understanding of the underlying appeal and driving force behind the game. If that anyone is a CCP lead designer then that's a thousand times worse, if it's then put into some marketing leaflet blob thing that means it's halfway there of becoming company policy. THAT is what we're angry about, the concept of EVE the thing we love and stuck around for (mind you, the game has so many glaring issues we certainly didn't stuck around for the buggy coding) is being attacked, eroded and sold out.
The fact that there's severe bugs in an expansion is something we've grown used to and I'm sure those will be solved and while we're annoying by it it's not the end of the world. The pricing of MT van6ity items is hilariously stupid but in and of itself it's not something we'd go to "war" for, as most of us can't be fekked with vanity stuff much. CQ being a stupidly small, useless and crappy addition is something we didn't expect, we expected something more more elaborate and fantastic, but again that's not the main issue at all.
The main issue is that CCP (per it's lead designer) has sold us out, and has sold out on what the game stands for; player driven sandbox. THAT is what we go to war for. ________
